If you are currently awaiting laparoscopic or robotic kidney surgery, it is essential for your own safety and for the success of your surgery that you carefully read and observe these instructions.
Medications
7 days before surgery STOP taking any Aspirin, Motrin (Ibuprofen) and any other blood thinners, including Herbal medications and multi-Vitamins. Take usual doses of heart, diabetic, thyroid, and cholesterol medication on the morning of surgery with a tiny sip of water.
Clear Liquid Diet
The day before your surgery, please follow a clear liquid diet. This includes the following: tea, broth, popsicles, water, Gatorade, apple juice, cranberryjuice, grape juice, black coffee, Jell-O, cola/7-Up.
***DO NOT DRINK ORANGE JUICE, TOMATO JUICE OR MILK!***
Bowel Prep
Drink one bottle of Magnesium Citrate 4pm the day before surgery.
NOTHING TO EAT OR DRINK AFTER MIDNIGHT BEFORE SURGERY
